Classic cocktails are always ripe for reinvention. At High 5ive, a rooftop bar and lounge, The Beautiful Ones was inspired by the classic Aviation cocktail, well known for its stunning purple hue, courtesy of crème de violette. This rendition further amps up color and flavor through the clever addition of a housemade blueberry shrub and lavender bitters.

“The drink enhances the botanical flavors of Hendrick’s gin with the floral notes from both the crème de violette and the lavender bitters,” says Artis Jackson, Manager. “The blueberry shrub provides enough acidity to balance the perceived sweetness of the floral components while also introducing another layer of flavor.” Because of its eye-catching appearance, once a guest orders the aptly named cocktail, more requests inevitably stream in, reports Jackson.
